Participation by Two-Blues juniors has always been strong and the benefits of playing stood out again – making new mates, being able to build and improve your skills via back-to-back games and having fun. The feedback has been enormously positive and all our juniors had a ball.
The Club had almost 25 juniors competing across the U13 and U15 competitions; in seven squads; with five of those squads making the finals. Two squads won their final; GCA-3 had massive contributions from the “Chisholm” boys Lenny Robinson, Will Stone and Sam Ruthford; and GCA -6 won on the back of wonderful performances by Jacob Richens, Harvey Sargent and Liam Miller.
Top performers over the competition were:
Player | Top Score | Runs | Wickets | Catches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Duncan Crawford (U13’s) | 36 | 105 Runs | — | — |
Eddie Bennett (U15’s) | 54 | 102 Runs | — | 3 Catches |
Archie Carleton (U13’s) | 71 | 95 Runs | — | — |
Harvey Sargent (U13’s) | 42 | 91 Runs | 4 Wickets | — |
Lenny Robinson (U13’s) | 34 | 90 Runs | — | — |
Oliver McArthur (U15’s) | 52 | 90 Runs | — | — |
Other notable efforts were from: Ben da Graca Costa with a total of 62 runs; Jacob Richens also with a total of 62 runs; Mitch Andrews with a total of 54 runs; Thomas Donnar with 40 runs in one of U15 teams; and his brother, Charlie Donnar, with four wickets in the same team.
Congratulations to all our Juniors who participated. It was obvious that all the boys had enormous fun and previous experience says that back-to-back games will foster mammoth growth in their games. Thank you to all the parents who contributed to the smooth running of each game and in particular the parents who took control of their squads as the duty club. It is a significant effort but rewarding hard work. Well done and thank you!
Another successful GCA Country Week with continued strong contributions by Two-Blues Juniors. Many of the new friends they have made with boys from other clubs this week will last a lifetime. The connections they have cemented with other Two-Blues boys will strengthen Newtown Chilwell Cricket Club for the coming seasons.
